Osman Rene Romero owns the San Isidro farm, handed down from his parents, in the Copan region of Honduras. At around 10 hectares the majority of the coffee growing is kept under natural rainforest shade.

The mainstay of the coffee varieties on site is Catuai but recently there has been expansion into more rust resistant varietals like Parainema, IHCAFE90 and Lempira. We have selected a macerated natural process coffee that was part of a European wide coffee roasting competition. The results did not disappoint. A complex coffee that carries a lot of sweetness and dark fruit notes but still manages to have a touch of winter spice in it makes it a perfect autumn coffee.

Osman was one of the first people in the Aruco co-op to branch out and try new varietals and experimental processing methods in order to achieve better coffee and a better price. Being a trained and experienced agronomist certainly helped and his influence quickly spread throughout the rest of the co-op and it shows in the cup quality.
